China Airlines (CI)’ classic “Boeing Blue” combination livery was once carried by the 747-400 fleet. The elegance, which merged Boeing’s technological blue with China Airlines’ signature plum blossom motif, was truly memorable. Regrettably, I never had the opportunity to see that previous generation’s special aircraft with my own eyes. Fortunately, China Airlines decided to continue this aesthetic on a new generation aircraft: the Boeing 777-300ER (B-18007). However, CI does not operate the Vancouver route, the only opportunity for a close-range capture was Paine Field (PAE), located right next to the Boeing factory. To achieve this goal, I undertook the drive to PAE Airport twice. The persistence finally paid off: I not only successfully captured this flowing work of art by the runway, but, even more significantly, witnessed its delivery flight—the aircraft leaving the Boeing factory to enter commercial operation.

This is one of my all-time favorite liveries and you really captured its colors perfectly this day.
