Did you know that Ayutthaya in Thailand was once one of the largest cities in the world during the 1700s? However, it was invaded and burned by the Burmese army, causing the collapse of the old Thai dynasty. The city is now characterized by its numerous headless Buddha statues. Although it is unfortunate to see the ruins of this once great city, visiting Ayutthaya brings a sense of peace and calm to me.
