The Speicherstadt in Hamburg, Germany, boasts a rich history spanning hundreds of years and is recognized as the largest warehouse district in the world. The buildings in the area are constructed on timber-pile foundations and oak logs, lending an air of historic charm to the district. In 2015, the Speicherstadt was officially designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the second World Heritage Site I visited in just two days. Walking around the district is like taking a journey through time, a truly surreal experience.
